Todd Hitt Continues Partnership with the Virginia Athletics Foundation

$20,000 donation helps provide athletics scholarships and operational support for the University of Virginia men’s soccer team

WASHINGTON, DC /  MARCH 28, 2016 — Todd Hitt, local philanthropist and alumnus of the University of Virginia, recently continued his long-standing partnership with the Virginia Athletics Foundation (VAF) by making a $20,000 gift to help student-athletes earn a degree from the University of Virginia while competing in the sport they love.

The primary focus of the Virginia Athletics Foundation Annual Fund is to raise the funds to support the 316.6 athletics scholarships allowed by the NCAA for Virginia’s 25 sports programs. “Todd Hitt understands firsthand the value of a scholarship and the athletics experience at the University of Virginia,” said Heather Troudt, VAF Associate Director. “As a member of the men’s soccer team, Todd benefitted from the generosity of VAF members and we sincerely appreciate his commitment as a student-athlete alumnus.”

Mr. Hitt’s generosity will support of the men’s soccer program — its scholarship program and Coaches 10 Fund, designed to enhance operational budget support and meet specific program needs. “I’m pleased to be able to support the VAF,” Hitt remarked. “I’m constantly reminded of the lessons I learned both on and off the field during my time as a student athlete at UVA, and I credit those lessons, in large part, with my success in the business world.”

Through the generosity of individuals like Mr. Hitt, the VAF set a fundraising record in 2015 at $17 million.
